Why we recycle.

JEANBAG was founded with a passion for the environment and a little idea… to transform denim jeans, destined for landfill, into beautiful and useful products for your home.

We care about people and that’s why we care about the planet. We believe that everyone should have access to clean water, clean air and a healthy environment, but not everyone does.
One of the biggest issues of our time is environmental pollution from overconsumption. Rather than getting overwhelmed (which is easy in a world of seven billion), we thought: how can we help?
How can we help divert waste from landfill? How can we use our skills to do something good? How can we take a simple idea and create massive change?
We need to start seeing waste products as valuable resources…
One amazing piece of engineering that often ends up in landfill is the denim jean.

If you knew it takes almost a kilo of cotton, 10,000 litres of water, and countless hours of labour and skill to make a single pair of denim jeans, wouldn’t you want to make sure they never end up in landfill?

We want to honour the labour, skill, time and resources that goes into making each and every pair of denim jeans. The water that helps grow the cotton seed, the pickers, dyers and weavers who bring the fabric to life and the designers, machinists and shippers who work hard to get our favourite pair of jeans to us in the first place.
Your jeans may have come to the end of their wearable life, but they still have miles left in them yet. Maybe not as jeans, but something else. And that’s why we’re here, to recycle your jeans and to create the ‘something else’.
By making our JEANBAG products from recycled denim jeans—jeans too good for landfill—and partnering with organisations to champion environmental change we want to help create a cleaner, healthier planet for all.
We can’t do this without you. Without you, we can’t divert denim waste from landfill and we can’t donate a percentage of sales to the organisations that need our help. But, with you we can and we do, and the bonus is that you get unique, well-made, beautiful products for your home and a really nice feeling that you’re contributing to positive change in the world.

“We love how JEANBAG has chosen to do something good for the environment both locally and globally. We share one planet and we need to do good everywhere.”
